Just like at their last show, we were on hand at this season's Twist Fair to take green screen photos with attendees and vendors! Twist is Northampton's premiere alternative craft fair, and we're thrilled to be a part of it whenever we get the chance. Not surprisingly, we had a total blast dressing up in funny costumes and playing pretend with everyone. Here are some of our favorites. (It was hard to whittle down, so there's a lot!)

This past weekend we had the pleasure of participating in The Grand Trikathlon, a triathlon tricycle race. It was our second year participating in the event. In order to participate we raised money for The Cancer Connection, a stupendous local organization that offers extensive, holistic rehabilitation services for cancer survivors. You can learn more about their valuable services at their website.

This year our resident expert on pop-culture nerdery, Jessie “Cool Mohawk” Taylor, came up with our awesome team name “One Trike to Rule Them All”. She dressed up like a dragon, I came as a wizard, and webdev Sasha showed up to game day in Hobbit garb. (And my awesome roommate Jessica made our team sign- thanks Jess!)

We were the first to race...

For two exceptional hours on March 3, left-click's Gutter Ball Z bowling team took to the lanes at Spare Time Northampton for the Bowl for Kids' Sake Masquerade Bowl. The event, which was also held last year with great success, raises money for the Hampshire County agency of Big Brothers Big Sisters. Bowlers wore masks, boas, beads, and, in one case, a wizard costume while the alley boomed with music and party lights.

This past weekend we had the pleasure of attending the 5th Annual Lights, Camera, Youth Action!, a fundraiser for one of our favorite local organizations, Youth Action Coalition. YAC and their programs create an environment where a diverse group of area youth can discuss their feelings and ideas, feel comfortable expressing them through various media and as a result feel that they're being heard and a part of the world around them. It's a very valuable service, and seeing the youth in the program present their work and ideas it's clear that they excel at it. We got to see a number of them talk about the program and present their work at Lights, Camera, Youth Action!, in addition to stating their intention to expand the program with a dedicated space for their efforts. The event was entirely underwitten (which left-click contributed toward), so all donations went directly to YAC and we hope they're closer to their goal! You can ALWAYS donate to YAC here: http://www.youthactioncoalition.org/contribute/index.html

You never know what you're going to get when you randomly pick a winner for a raffle, but we couldn't be happier with the winner of our Holiday iPad Raffle. Meet Lisa MacDonald. Lisa is a senior at Northampton High School where she is the Secretary of their chapter of the National Honor Society and president of Model UN. In fact, the list of awesome stuff Lisa does never quite seems to end; she speaks Chinese and has studied Latin, she got her black belt in Taekwondo and she throws shot put and discus, which she will continue to do at Oberlin College in Ohio this fall! Lisa entered our raffle after seeing it in Thornes' email newsletter. She hasn't used an iPad too much, except playing Fruit Ninja on her Mom's. She told us that's the first thing she's going to do on hers, now that she has one, and is also looking forward to seeing how it can be utilized in the classroom this fall.

Thanks again to everyone who entered, and let's all wish Lisa the best of luck in school this fall!

We have an ad currently running in the mighty Valley Arts Newsletter. The Valley Arts Newsletter is a Pioneer Valley focused email newsletter that provides a staggeringly comprehensive list of all arts events happening in our fine valley on a weekly basis. The compilation of all these events must be an exhausting process, and we are happy to support this valuable resource! See our ad in action on this week's newsletter!

Ice Cream in The Underworld with a Pair O' Dice City Roller!

We spent last weekend at the awesome Twist Fair, a twice annual alternative craft fair here in Northampton, MA. We set up a green screen, handed people some goofy props and took their pictures as they entered the fair. We then dropped them into The Underworld, shot them to The Moon or sent them to the Beach, and uploaded the photos to Facebook throughout the day. It was a total blast! Huge thanks to Twist for partying with us, and thanks to the Pair O' Dice City Rollers for roping people into the booth and posing with them!

If you're a member of the Western MA community you've no doubt heard the sad news that local fixture Pleasant Street Video is closing its doors for good. But their invaluable library of films, many rare or out of print, is not lost. In a brilliant move they're currently accepting donations from the public to move them over to the Forbes Public Library just down the street. You can even pick the specific title you'd like to donate. left-click did our part for the geeks by donating the entire series of Robot Chicken, and also dabbled in cultural preservation by donating a number of important musical films- Lou Reed's Berlin, The Monkees' Head and Frank Zappa's 200 Motels. So please consider doing a good deed and becoming a part of local history by donating. There's lots of good stuff left (CQ, Louis CK's Shameless and the 1966 Batman film, some of my absolute favorites, are all still available as of this writing), and PSV is still adding new films to their database. Hit "Read More" to see videos of the films we donated!

One of my focuses at left-click is to make the store a participating member in the wonderful Western Massachusetts community around it. We've been active in the local Chamber of Commerce, addressing people's tech questions on Twitter and participating in a number of great community events. So I was really excited when I heard about the opportunity to support Youth Action Coalition's new mural in Amherst. I knew very little about the mural, or of Youth Action Coalition themselves, but when I heard that members "are youth from the Amherst area" who were working on a mural that "addresses the contentious political atmosphere brought on by the national budget deficit and our involvement in numerous wars" I was instantly sold. I signed left-click up to be a supporter and a few days later was at the unveiling of the mural during the event "STEPPING OUT: a multimedia art exhibit and mural unveiling" in Amherst.
